Pablo Fajnzylber
Senior Economist, Latin America & the Caribbean Region

Pablo Fajnzylber is senior economist in the Latin America and Caribbean region of the World Bank, where he works in the Finance and Private Sector Development department. Previously, Mr. Fajnzylber worked for two years as an economist at the Bank’s Research Department (DECRG).

Mr. Fajnzylber has published in various professional journals on a variety of development topics, including the economic impact of workers’ remittances, the dynamics of micro-enterprises in developing countries, the impact of international trade on labor demand, the determinants of economic growth in Latin America, and the economic causes of violent crime.

Before joining the World Bank as an economist, Mr. Fajnzylber was a Professor of Economics at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He also acted as a consultant for ECLA and the World Bank.

Mr. Fajnzylber received a B.A. degree in economics from the Universidad de la Republica (Uruguay) and a master’s degree from the University of Campinas (Brazil). He then attended Michigan State University for his Ph.D. in Economics. Mr. Fajnzylber is a Chilean national.
