Keith Hansen is the World Bank’s Sector Manager for Health, Nutrition, and Population in Latin America and the Caribbean. He is responsible for the Bank’s overall strategy, analysis, and policy advice in this region, and manages a portfolio comprising more than 30 project in 20 countries, totaling roughly $2 billion. Consistent with the Bank’s new global health strategy, a growing share of the health portfolio is results-based, and greater attention is being paid to multisectoral health determinants and opportunities. He is also managing the World Bank’s response to the A/H1N1 influenza outbreak in Latin America.

Prior to this, he was head of the Bank’s HIV/AIDS program for Africa for several years, led the Bank’s health work in South Africa and Zimbabwe, managed environmental work in Latin America, and held corporate positions in the Bank. He also teaches on AIDS and development issues at Princeton University. He earned a Master of Public Affairs degree from Princeton and a law degree from Stanford in 1987.
